Showing solidarity for a man he believes was wrongly convicted, Johnny Depp attended "Damien Echols In Conversation, with Johnny Depp" at Barnes & Noble Union Square in NYC on Friday (September 21).
Looking a bit like a hipster cowboy, the "Dark Shadows" star donned a brown leather jacket; black, red, and gray scarf; gray trousers; and a black cowboy hat with a beaded band.
The 49-year-old actor supported Echols, one of the famous West Memphis Three, who was promoting a book detailing his life after being released from death row.
That same day, a crew member on Johnny's new film, "The Lone Ranger," tragically drowned while preparing a water tank for an upcoming scene. Law enforcement told TMZ that the worker was pulled from the tank only after another on the film crew noticed there weren't any bubbles surfacing from the diver's gear.

In related news, Gaga has been recently wearing outfits that aren't as sheer as normal, most likely because of her 25-pound weight gain.
Over the summer, the international pop sensation told Elvis Duran that she gained the weight because of "her love of Italian food and her father's new restaurants." But recently, the "Born This Way" singer is thanking her fans for embracing the new look.

Ready to show off their new work, the stars of “Hotel Transylvania” gathered together for their film's Los Angeles premiere on Saturday (September 22).
Glamming up the Pacific Theatre red carpet at The Grove was the film's female star, Selena Gomez, who wowed in a little white number while accompanied by her on-screen dad, Adam Sandler, as well as fellow castmate Fran Drescher.
Also starring Andy Samberg, Molly Shannon and David Spade, the Genndy Tartakovsky-directed comedy focuses on Count Dracula (Sandler) and his efforts to keep his rebellious 118-year-old daughter (Gomez) from leaving home by throwing a birthday party.
While talking about her role in the film with Collider, 20-year-old Miss Gomez explained how she related to her character, Mavis, saying, “I think I’m going through what she is going through, doing things on my own a little more. I am getting a little bit of that freedom. And I’m kind of quirky, like Mavis.”

The gold medal-winning Olympian beamed as he introduced the rapper in an all black outfit topped off with a red leather vest.
After the meeting, the thrilled swimmer tweeted a photo of the two with the comment, "I finally met @LilTunechi #jeah #jeah."
When his co-presenter noted his love of hip-hop, Ryan replied, "That's right. I listen to hip-hop before my races to get amped and this next performer is one of my favorites." He then put in some sparkling mouth-wear, adding, "I even got a grill, just like him. What do you think?"

Jessica Simpson celebrated her fiancé Eric Johnson's 33rd birthday yesterday at lunch with him and their friends. The group sat down for a meal at the Santa Monica hotel Shutters, and Jess was seen arriving for the get-together in a pair of denim cutoffs and sky-high heels. The happy new parents left baby Maxwell at home, but the little one's been a big part of the celebrations lately. Earlier this week, Jessica shared new photos of Maxwell Johnson, including one with Eric beaming as he held the infant. Jessica loves watching Eric with baby Maxwell, and spoke about their bond with iVillage. Jessica said, "The way he loves her, and the way he kisses her on the head - you can just tell that he wants to protect her. It's made our love deeper, and I know that Maxwell's gonna be a daddy's little girl just from watching the two of them interact."

Going from bad to worse, Amanda Bynes was caught on camera acting strange and getting violent earlier this week.
During a stroll on Sunset Boulevard, the “She’s the Man” actress discovered that a paparazzo was hot on her tail and she flipped.
Covering her face, Amanda first tried to ward off the shutterbug before agreeing to pose for photos if he agreed to get rid of the first round of pics. “You have to delete that one of my face. I need to look beautiful,” she pleaded.
And when the photographer refused, Bynes reached out and tried to rip the camera out of his hands, supposedly scratching and pinching him.

The hype is steadily building for the release of “Looper,” and earlier today IMP Awards unleashed two new international promotional posters.
Slated for a September 28th theatrical date, the sci-fi action flick boasts big names like Bruce Willis,
Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Emily Blunt, Paul Dano, Piper Parabo, Jeff Daniels, and Noah Segan.
Per the synopsis, “In 2072, when the mob wants to get rid of someone, the target is sent 30 years into the past, where a hired gun awaits. Someone like Joe, who one day learns the mob wants to 'close the loop' by transporting back Joe's future self.”

I went to the premiere on Tuesday and it was the coolest thing ever. First, the movie is AMAZING and Chris Evans is a superstar. Second, there were so many damn people there it was insane. I have been to movie premieres in New York before and they were nothing like this. I mean, they closed down Hollywood Boulevard. I would've taken photos to show you, but the invite said to leave phones in the car. But here's a photo of me in my cool Captain America 3D glasses:

On her 'loud' personality: “I am quite loud and bolshie,” she says (British slang for unruly and clamorous). “I’m a big personality. I walk into a room, big and tall and loud.” Indeed. There is no doubt when Adele is in the building. The rule of thumb for protecting one’s vocal cords, she tells me, is: If people are more than an arm’s length away, you shouldn’t talk to them. “But I am like, Wah! Wah! Wah!,” she says, laughing. “It’s really bad.”
On giving up drinking last May: “Don’t like drinking anymore. I think I got it out of my system. D’yaknowhaImean?”
On her vocal troubles: “I’ve been singing properly every day since I was about fifteen or sixteen and I have never had any problems with my voice, ever. I’ve had a sore throat here and there, had a cold and sung through it, but that day it just went while I was onstage in Paris during a radio show. It was literally like someone had pulled a curtain over it.” She flew to London the next morning to see her doctor and was diagnosed with acute laryngitis. After a couple weeks’ rest, she continued her European tour, came to America, and then her voice went again in May. “That was a hemorrhage... a burst blood vessel on my vocal cord. That healed, I did a tour, and then it happened again at my best friend’s wedding on October 1.”
On getting support through her surgery from other artists: “John Mayer had it done at the same time as I did and he really helped me be chilled out about it. Roger Daltrey’s had loads of stuff done; Steven Tyler reached out; Elton John. Lots of artists have had problems with their voices, but you don’t know about it. And they are still singing incredibly well in their 50s and 60s.”
On her six Grammy nominations: “I burst into tears when I found out. And I would love, absolutely love, to win. This record is coming to an end, and that would be the final brick on it.” [gallery=821]
He isn't involved in reported Guillermo del Toro project — yet. 'I would love to talk to him about that,' Radcliffe tells MTV News.
